Dear Scholar,
I am writing to inform you of an exciting new Fulbright U.S. Scholar grant opportunity in your field of expertise. The competition for academic year 2015-2016 launched in February, and for the first time, Iceland is offering an award in Folkloristics. The selected candidate will teach and/or conduct research at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik.
This award is open to academics with a PhD, including early career scholars, and the selected candidate will teach courses on non-Western mythologies and a contemporary topic in the field of Folkloristics. It would also be appreciated if the candidate was willing to advise student researchers, as well as graduate students and faculty members interested in publishing in American academic journals.
The University of Iceland, founded in 1911, is the oldest and largest university in the country. It is a modern and rapidly developing institution, and the majority of its perman! ent academic staff have studied and researched at respected foreign universities. The Department of Folklore has three full-time professors and two adjunct faculty members, and their research areas range from Old Norse religions and medieval popular literature to children?s folklore and performance studies.
A detailed award description, profile of the university, and list of application requirements can be found here in the catalog of awards. More information about the Fulbright Scholar Program can be found on our website, http://www.cies.org/, and the complete catalog can be accessed online at http://catalog.cies.org/. As outlined in our Eligibility Guidelines, all applicants must be U.S. citizens at the time of application. The current competition will close on August 1, 2014.
I would be happy to answer any questions, and please feel free to share this information with colleagues, listservs, newsletters, or social media networks.
Sincerely,
Cate
