Submissions for the 2016 Elli Köngäs-Maranda Professional Prize Must Be Postmarked by August 1




The Women’s Section of the American Folklore Society is pleased to announce that we are currently accepting submissions for the 2016 Elli Köngäs-Maranda Professional Prize. The EKM Professional Prize is awarded annually to publications and/or productions in Folklore, Ethnomusicology, Anthropology, or related disciplines that consider women’s traditional, vernacular or local culture and/or feminist theory and folklore. The deadline for submissions for the Professional Prize has been extended by one day to August 1, 2016, as July 31 falls on a Sunday.

The EKM Professional Prize carries a cash award of $250. If you have any publications and/or productions you would like us to consider for this prize, please send me three copies of the book, video, or other media, postmarked by August 1, 2016. Digital editions are welcome.


Eligible works include books, films, videos, exhibitions or exhibition catalogues, and sound recordings.

Materials should have been published/produced no more than two years prior to the submission deadline.

The awards will be announced at the American Folklore Society Annual
Meeting in Miami, FL, October 19-22, 2016. Prize recipients need not be
members of the Society.
