Professorship (W2) in European Ethnology, University of Muenster/Germany

The Institute of Folklore Studies/European Ethnology (Faculty of History and Philosophy (FB 08)) of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (WWU) invites applications for the position of a full professorship, starting on 1 February 2019:
Professorship (W2) in European Ethnology
 The successful candidate must have extensive experience in the discipline with a focus on museum and/or material culture in teaching and research and s/he must develop this focus further. This implies teaching in German and English in the regular degree programmes of Cultural Anthropology/Folklore Studies (MA) and Cultural and Social Anthropology (BA).
The candidate should be highly familiar with the announced focus through having performed a substantial amount of their own research on museum and/or material culture.
It is desired that the candidate has:
-         international experience in museum and exhibition practice that is pertinent to the discipline
-         made innovative contributions in museum and exhibition practice
-         competence in the history and philosophy of science; this is additionally desired to resituate traditional collections with an
          interdisciplinary perspective
-         experience with innovative teaching that gives students insight into working in the field of museum and/or material culture by making this
          field visible to the public, approaching it in an empirically profound way and reflecting its theory (e.g. research seminars, project
          seminars).
We expect the successful candidate to be willing to cooperate in research cooperations within the Faculty of History and Philosophy and within the WWU. We also expect he/she to have interest in networking in research and teaching with museums and other institutions of public cultural and educational work on the regional, national, and international level.

Conditions of employment are a successfully completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude and competence in acadernic research, usually attested by an excellent dissertation. Prerequisites for the application are further academic achievements made as a Juniorprofessor (assistant professor), in a Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), or as a member of the academic staff of a university or a non-university research institute in Germany or abroad.
