EDITOR SOUGHT FOR JEWISH FOLKLORE & ETHNOLOGY ANNUAL



Applications are invited for the post of Editor for the Jewish Folklore and Ethnology Annual (JFEA) an online publication sponsored by the Jewish Folklore and Ethnology Section of the American Folklore Society.
 
Appearing once a year as an annual collection of articles and reviews in Jewish folklore and ethnology, JFEA will be published by Indiana University Press and succeeds the print volumes of the Jewish Cultural Studies Series for the Littman Library of Jewish Civilization and the Jewish Folklore and Ethnology Review. The role will initially be a five-year renewable appointment, starting in June 2019.

The closing date for applications is Friday, March 1, 2019.
 
Applications should include a CV and cover letter providing information on (1) editorial qualifications and experience, (2) description of institutional support such as assistants for the role, and (3) vision and/or strategies for JFEA to have a significant impact on the field. Applications will be vetted by the outgoing editorial advisory board and will be treated in strictest confidence.
 
Duties of the Editor Include:
  • Organize an international editorial advisory board.
  • Identify and supervise a Review Editor.
  • Solicit submissions of essays and generate special issues on themes in Jewish folklore and ethnology.
  • Maintain the peer review process provided by Indiana University Press and ensure that all reviewers and authors uphold the annual's policies
  • Make an annual report at the business meeting of the Jewish Folklore and Ethnology section on the status of JFEA.
