Kalikantzaroi and the 12 days of Christmas in Greece” Dr. Evangelos Avdikos’s research centers on the world of ritual and the supernatural. He frames his study of Kalikantzaroi – the so-called Christmas sprites or goblins of Balkan lore – not as isolated phenomena but as representations of the supernatural world, in relation to the transitional rituals associated with the equinox.
