Folk/Popular Cultures and Borders

This course deals with exploring how folk/popular culture contributes to raising borders, visible and invisible. Specifically, draws ethnographic material from the geographical borderlands across the world. However, it mostly emphasizes the Balkan case.
The main points are:
1.      Defining borders and symbols
2.      the political use  
3.      Migration and transnationalism
4.      Culture, borders and the reverse
5.      Narrating border stories
