CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR WAYLAND D. HAND BOOK PRIZE

The History and Folklore Section of the American Folklore Society (AFS) invites submissions for its biennial Wayland D. Hand Prize for an outstanding book that combines historical and folkloristic perspectives. A work offered for consideration can be an authored book, edited volume or reference work, or exhibition catalog published between June 1, 2016, and June 1, 2018. The prize honors Wayland D. Hand (1907-1986) who as president of the AFS and in his teaching and scholarship encouraged historical methodology in folklore research. The winner of the Wayland D. Hand Prize will receive 200 USD and an accolade from the AFS. The prize-winning book will be publicized at the annual meeting of the American Folklore Society in October and receive notice in the pages of the Folklore Historian, the annual publication of the History and Folklore Section of the AFS. For a list of previous winners, see http://www.afsnet.org/default.asp?page=HistoryFolklore.
Submissions can be from authors or publishers. Submit three copies of the submission for judges before June 15, 2018 to: Professor Elizabeth Tucker, 500 Magnolia Drive, Vestal NY 13850, USA.
