Please Help Support H-Net: Our Fall Appeal is Underway

Dear Friends of H-Net:
In the two years since we celebrated our 20th anniversary, H-Net has entered a new era, our greatest transition since we broke upon the world as a consortium of email-based discussion groups in 1993.  The H-Net Commons draws together all the main elements of H-Net’s distinctive editorial culture and content into one powerful sharing platform that is expandable, flexible, and durable.  Hewing to our core belief in scholarly moderation, the Commons gives editors and subscribers a suite of tools and features that leverage twenty years of publications: reviews, syllabi, message threads, commissioned essays and roundtables, archives of images and documents.  Over the coming weeks, you will be hearing from editors, subscribers, and leaders at H-Net about the new potential of the H-Net Commons.  Since its launch, dozens of new editors have joined up; subscriptions have risen; new projects and services have begun.  Although our home base in Michigan is in the middle of a glorious autumn, it feels like Spring in the office as each day brings fresh faces and ideas to our organization.  Learn more about new happenings at H-Net here.
The Commons also opens a new future for H-Net in the form of new features and services we couldn’t do before.  This week, we unveil the new H-Net Book Channel, a book discovery service that answers a real need for teachers and scholars struggling to keep up with new scholarship.  And we also have inaugurated H-Podcast, a new network about the art and technique of podcasting, which includes an enlightening podcast series, The Art of the Review, featuring H-Net review editors, copyeditors, and management staff.
There is much more to come!  Please help us maintain and develop a free and accessible H-Net!  Our hosts at the History Department have generously given critical support, but the lion’s share of our bills must be paid from independent sources.
Click here to make a tax-exempt gift online, through a VeriSign-secure site, by mail, or by telephone during our business hours, 10-5 weekdays, Eastern time.
For over twenty years H-Net has been your partner in teaching and scholarship, where you and your colleagues can find each other and the answers to the questions that really matter.  Please help us sustain that fruitful and exciting collaboration!
As always, we are deeply grateful for your faithful support for H-Net.
Warmly,
Peter
