Quran and Islamic Tradition in Comparative Perspective

The Quran and Islamic Tradition in Comparative Perspective unit of the SBL welcomes proposals for both individual papers and pre-arranged panels at the international meeting in Seoul, July 3-7, 2016.
Proposals for pre-arranged panels should be emailed to the program unit chairs.
 Individual papers must be submitted through the online system.
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to,
  • the Quran and Islamic tradition in the wider context of the history of the Western monotheisms; 
  • Islam’s profound historical relationships with Judaism, Christianity, and the biblical heritage; and 
  • comparative inquiry and intercommunal dialogue more generally.

If you are a SBL member, you must login before you can propose a paper for this or any other session. Please login by entering your SBL member number on the left in the Login box.

If you are a member of the Society of Asian Biblical Studies (SABS), Korea Old Testament Society (KOTS), or Korea New Testament Society (KNTS), but not of SBL, please click here to propose a paper.

Chairs have the responsibility to make waiver requests, and their email addresses are available above. SBL provides membership and meeting registration waivers only for scholars who are outside the disciplines covered by the SBL program, specifically most aspects of archaeological, biblical, religious, and theological studies.
